A Birthday without a Cruise…

Well, as many of you may know I am one for celebrating my Birthday – doesn’t have to even be a special one, just any excuse for a little bit of special time away with my Husband and celebrating with friends and family..

This year is no exception, apart from as Facebook memories have been reminding me, the last couple of years have included a Cruise… Last year I was on the Norwegian Star on my Birthday sailing Eastern Med cruise from Venice and the year before I had a pre-birthday celebration on a mini-cruise to Bruges with P&O on the Britannia.

So this years celebrations were slightly different, a lovely evening with some great friends on Saturday night –  between the 3 couples, we had decided to each arrange a course of the meal and the evening was great fun filled with good company, lots of laughter and the odd bottle (or 2) of Prosecco !!..

Sunday, my actual Birthday, saw a calmer celebration – although my husband did arrange several surprises including my costume extras –  with a lovely carvery meal at a local pub with my Mum, husband and step-children.

Then followed a UK Mini-break for 2 nights to South England – for Christmas last year I got my husband a track driving day which we had arranged for Brands Hatch.  The Driving Experience was thoroughly enjoyed by my husband – who also signed me up for a Hot Lap in an Aerial Atom with a proper racing driver..

After leaving Brands Hatch we went to stay at Chessington World Resort Hotel, I’m not a huge theme park fan but had heard Chessington Zoo is lovely and found they had a hotel with rooms overlooking the “safari area” and the views from the room did certainly not disappoint including seeing Zebras, Sitatunga, Horned Oryx, Ostrich, Ankole Cattle and joined the following morning by some Giraffe.

Wednesday we journeyed back to Devon, including a brief visit to Stonehenge.

Then I had a drive on Thursday to Head Office in Redditch for a catch-up with some lovely colleagues, a great night out and an overnight stay – oh and some training on some new systems we are getting here.. all exciting times ahead.

It has been a very hectic week, but filled with fun and that is what it is all about – I work very hard, but also play hard !!.. Almost felt like a cruise and have certainly covered many COUNTIES on my travels..

Until next time, back at my desk now for the rest of October (as far as I know at the moment !! )
