Would you believe I have traveled all around the world and visited some truly beautiful countries but i have never visited Portugal! on our door step and only a couple of hours flight away but I had yet to visit the country until recently.
I took a girls trip and myself and 3 friends headed over for a 4 night stay, we flew from Birmingham Airport with Jet2 who I have to say are a fantastic airline its my second trip with them this year so far, we flew into Faro on the Algarve and stayed just outside of Albufeira. We stayed in a little apartment complex which was perfect all be it a little far out from town!
Albufeira is a huge resort and is split between the new town and old town. In the new town you can expect to find lots of bars , clubs restaurants and a busy ‘strip’ area. The old town you access down escalators along the coast , very surreal I haven’t seen anything like that before! But its a beautiful part of the resort and I would have to say i preferred the Old Town over the New Town, it was more traditional, cobbled streets, a beautiful square with an abundance of restaurants and even a stage in the middle with various traditional shows
The weather was beautiful and we spent one of our days at the beach in the old town, the beaches are long and wide and have many caves dotted along them and the sea is perfect for small children as you can walk out really far and its only upto your knees!
I loved my first visit to Portugal and will no doubt be back again, maybe to a different resort next time as I definitely prefer the more traditional side of things!
