Solo Sailing

When I speak to customers who are looking to go it alone I do feel a sense of ‘will I find something suitable for them’ feeling in  the pit of my stomach. However over the years and the more enquiries I have found doing I the best prices are with Norwegian as they have six ships out of their fleet that offer a studio cabin especially for a solo traveller. I have booked a regular customer into this cabin grade three times now and he has had a fantastic experience. First off the price is reasonable and secondly the studio cabins are located together with a separate lounge they can meet in for pre dinner drinks. Also the cabins are in excellent locations and not down in the bows of the ship. They have a window which looks out onto the corridor so it feels  a bit more spacious.This has worked well in his favor as they then usually go on to have dinner together. Its a fantastic way of meeting people too.

The other cruise line that has low prices for solo’s is Costa. Now I find this a strange one, customers are either willing to see what they have to offer or won’t touch them with a barge pole for obvious reasons. But they be worth considering if customers are price lead and really want to get away.

A few tips for solos  is asked to be seated with fellow solos then this way you get to meet people and who knows strike up a friend for life who can then cruise with in the future.

Fred Olsen are another cruise line that offer singles, although still can be a bit pricey. But they are a lovely cruise line, nice size ships and food and entertainment are fabulous. Sometimes paying that little bit more can make a difference and have an experience to remember.
