Royal Princess

Last week I was lucky enough to experience Royal Princess which was also my first time on a Princess ship. It was everything I expected and more. as soon as we got on board I was impressed with the decor and the grandness, it really is a beautiful ship.  Our cabin was located on Baja deck B215 which had a balcony and for two sharing it is very spacious. Princess prides themselves on the beds and it was probably one of the most comfortable ones I have ever slept on. After embarkation, we had to meet the rest of the party in the Princess Live lounge, which is like a small theatre where they have comedians, singers and various different acts. With the size of the ship, there are plenty of social areas and we managed to visit the majority. Also on deck 7 is  Crooners which is a bar, the large Vista lounge and wheelhouse bar and The Crown Grill which is the speciality restaurant serving steaks and seafood- but more about that later on.

My favourite place to spend time was Bellinis which is a prosecco bar which has every type of Prosecco you can imagine. Here you can overlook the Piazza which is the main atrium and is stunning. I would like to add here that one of the reasons we spent a lot of time here is because the staff were so much fun and friendly. We really did laugh a lot with them and I hold fond memories of them. On Saturday night everyone gathered around this area awaiting the famous balloon drop. Down on the lower deck, people were dancing waiting for the countdown and finally, the balloons were dropped on top of them. It was a great feature and I was told this happens on most ships.

On our second morning, we headed to the theatre to watch the culinary show. this is definitely worth it. The head chef and matre d demonstrated how to make a Ceasar salad and Black forest gateaux. It was all light-hearted and they were very entertaining. Afterwards, we were allowed to walk through the galley and see the workings of one of the main kitchens. I found this very interesting, they also gave you a chance to have a photo with the chef and purchase his cookbook.

 The sanctuary

This is a private area where you pay $20pp for the morning or afternoon to make use of the adult only pool area.

 If you fancy a late film Princess staff hand out blankets and popcorn and cookies.

We were given plenty of free time to explore and I have taken photos of places of interest. Next time I will talk more about the different places to dine.
