Turning 40 is not so bad after all…

At the weekend I celebrated my 40th Birthday…Was not sure about the whole thing of turning 40 to be honest, I certainly don’t feel it!!!

So what did I do, well I went to a spa, which was lovely, myself and eight friends went, it was a lovely big country house hotel in the middle of nowhere, very tranquil. We arrived at 10am and had the most amazing full English breakfast, then went to the Spa area, where they had a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was the best bit, then around 1pm, I went and had the most amazing back, shoulder and neck massage with hot stones, the therapist had to wake me up, I was out for the count. My second treatment was a facial, where she applied a facemask, cleansed, toned and moisturised my face, followed my a scalp massage. It was heaven. After my treatments, I was greeted my by friends with a glass of prosecco! We had a lovely lunch and the manager gave me a lovely bottle of prosecco to take home with me.

My children had arranged with the rest of my family to go out for dinner in the evening, it was a surprise, all I knew was to be ready by 7.15pm, my brother picked me up, which was lovely so that I could have a drink. The table was decorated with 40 and happy birthday confetti and a huge balloon. I have had some really lovely presents too. I received a matching necklace and bracelet, a Pandora ring, two Pandora charms for my bracelet, a curling wand for my hair, makeup and flowers. I have been very spoilt and have felt so overwhelmed at the generosity from my family and friends.

After we had finished our meal, the restaurant staff carried out a birthday cake, which a friend of mine had made, it was amazing, two tiers, with roses decorated around it. It had a firework candle and a 40 candle on the top, the whole restaurant burst in to song and sang me happy birthday, it made me feel so special.

My dear friend and colleague Michelle Fennelly are celebrating our birthdays together at the end of April, when we are going on a cruise together and visiting the Norwegian Fjords. Michelle celebrated her 50th birthday on Saturday, we are so similar and like two peas in a pod. She is my rock and love her to bits.

So what was I worried about, turning 40 hasn’t been that bad and they say life begins at 40!

Cheers everyone and here’s to another 40 years of health, wealth and happiness.
