Sail away to CocoCay

One of the largest Cruise Lines is set to spend a whopping $150 million renovating its own private Island.

Royal Caribbean are going large yet again with a development of their second private island in the Bahamas.Cruise Passengers are already able to visit Great Stirrup Cay and now with the development of CocoCay due to begin in September, passengers will hopefully be able to experience the rest of the Islands attractions sometime in 2019.

There are plans for it to house the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, the tallest waterslide in North America and a hot air balloon offering aerial tours of the Bahamas.

A very ambitious project for Royal Caribbean in a line of exciting private islands they have planned for development around the world including Asia and Australia.

So for those adrenaline junkies out there, this may be right up your street. There are plans for 13 Waterslides, a wave pool – another record breaker as being the largest in the Caribbean.

If water isn’t your thing then what about the 135ft Zip line. As well as a 1,600 foot-long zip wire suspended 50 ft above the ground that plunges riders into the Caribbean Sea.

I am more of a chill out kind of person and Royal Caribbean want to also look after those of us that want a little bit more of a relaxing day too. Cococay fits the bill here too with  2 new beaches Planned. Crystal waters and powdery white sand will be on offer to top up your tan or you can laze around the Oasis Lagoon Freshwater pool. They will even have Cabanas over the water to completely relax in.

I am already sold!

There are a few more Cruise Lines planning these types of retreats including MSC. They have been developing Ocean Cay. It was planned to be on my itinerary for my Caribbean cruise in November, but the terrible Hurricanes of 2017 meant they had bigger priorities getting the islands ready to accept passenger ships and resulting in it being cancelled until next year.

Have you been to one of these Islands? I would love to hear your comments.

Until next time

Di xx
