Adventures of stanley stamp

My next Blog is on the pros and cons of cruising with a two year old. My best Friend, wife and my two year old amazing Godson have just got back from a 1 week cruise on the Oceana. They flew from London Gatwick to Venice to board. The ship seemed massive compared to little Stanley. Yes it was big but was there enough to keep the whole family entertained.

They headed straight to there room so they could freshen up. At first glance the room seemed quite small with all the luggage and a push chair. Lucky they flew to the ship, which meant they could only have one case each. If they had have cruised from Southampton there just might not have been enough room. They had an inside cabin as this was a better price. The problem they found is that with no natural light, the room was pitch black so you wouldn’t even no what time it is. On the plus side the rooms were cleaned 3 times a day and always kept spotless. You couldn’t fault the cabin steward.

Next stop was the restaurant. My oh my this was like heaven. My best friend has his own restaurant called the ducky egg and even he couldn’t fault this. There is so much variety even for the fussiest of eaters. One small disappointment was the Marco Pierre white restaurant on board. For a small supplement you can dine in here but just not worth it. Every one has there own opinion though.

Ports of call. They visited Venice, Kator, Rome, Ajaccio and Corfu. Ok so this is where there was divded opinion. The ports themselves were stunning and if you are in to architecture and cobbled streets you are on to a winner. However this inst for everyone. A lot of the ports are fairly similar and not very relaxing. So even with the coolest of two year old could prove very stressful.

Back on the ship. There isnt masses to do on board Oceana. You have Casinos, Night clubs, swimming pools Cinemas and shows. Pretty standard for most cruise liners these days.

Kids Clubs: Reef Rangers kids club is excellent for short periods. The staff were great. Not many kids used it. This is surprising as it was kids holidays and there were a lot of kids on-board. It is better for younger kids 2-4 years. Older kids may have been a bit bored. Stanley loved it and would have spent his whole time in there.

That brings me on to an important question? Should you just palm your kids off onto the kids club the whole time. Yes as mentioned they are great. The staff are excellent and the children enjoy being in there. However don’t you go away to be a family.Or you could just leave your child at home. I dont have an opinion either way on this but would love to hear everyone thoughts.
