Azamara Journey Adriatic Cruise – Part 2

So on this blog I will be discussing the fantastic Azamara Journey itinerary and evening entertainment that was provided. The cruise itself started from Venice and it was an extremely hot day so after unpacking and having a little exploration around the ship it was time to get to the bar for a ice cold beverage, which went down very nicely.

The cabin itself was very spacious and always kept clean by the cabin steward, he works very hard on all his cabins and even left chocolates and fruit on our table for us.

On arrival to the next port of Hvar, we disembark the ship by tender which was less then 5 minutes away from the town. the town itself was very busy and full of lots of shops, restaurants and bars giving you much choice to choose from. And to be honest I wasn’t expecting Hvar to be as busy but definitely worth a visit.

Our next port of call was Split and again this was a very lovely port to go into. However Azamara club cruises provide a free Azamazing evening which we both attended and was a Chello evening, with beverages provided on arrival. This totally blew me away and would recommend again that everyone who cruises with Azamara take this free evening tour as it is a great evening to experience.

When arriving into Dubrovnik most passengers on-board where doing the Game of Thrones tour which also has the largest wall in Europe. Everyone that done the tour said it was exhausting but worth it and was very picturesque and scenic. So definitely one to watch if your into “Game of Thrones”.

Moving onto the itinerary then took us into Albania which I was looking forward to seeing. However most customers that were coming back on the cruise that had been into port said it is not worth getting off as nothing much really there. And after hearing almost all passengers saying this I decided to stay on. The feedback from passengers is that give it another 10 – 15 years it may be more up and coming and more to see and do there. Albania is not a popular port of call so only a few cruise lines port there.

The nest day was a sea day so we spent most of the day going round the ship taking plenty of photos and video’s so we could bring back and show work colleagues and customers. However after doing so much social media we decided to strip off and lay in the sun by the pool with an ice cold beverage.

The day before we had to disembark myself and my colleague Sean decided to get off in Venice and do some exploring, as I had been to Venice before. We decided to walk into Venice Island and St Mark Square which in all honesty can be very confusing as you start to follow others. I would certainly recommend doing a water shuttle from the cruise terminal to St Marks Square as walking around in hot heat can be very exhausting. So please bear this in mind. But absolutely recommend seeing Venice and what it has to offer.

The famous Rialto Bridge was under construction but they even managed to cover it up without noticing. Can you tell?

The evening entertainment on-board the Azamara Journey was great from ABBA nights with the cruise director in drag on roller skates (I know that sounds funny but it was true!). They also had an 80 evening playing the best of the 80’s. The had as usual the White party on the lido deck where all the sun lounges are taken and replaced with tables and chairs where they had authentic home made Indian cuisine and had live entertainment on stage.

So all in all this was such a great experience for me and would not hesitate to go back with Azamara Club Cruises. If you have any questions or would like me to look into any itineraries for you then please get in contact on 0800 408 6116 or [email protected]
