Philip Schofield’s First Cruise

Earlier this year when I was lucky enough to be travelling on the maiden voyage of the Majestic Princess, the sales team on board told us that we were about to become privvy to some very exciting & top secret news that was about to be announced. The big news was that they had taken on the services of a UK celebrity to become a brand ambassador for Princess Cruises. There was a lot of guessing going on & all sorts of names banded around from Kate Middleton to Katie Price! It turned out to be Philip Schofield. He’s in our living rooms in one way or other almost every day of the week and does seem like a very likeable fellow.

I guess they have looked at what sister company P&O have done with the Rob Brydon TV adverts and are wanting to promote life on board – especially to fist time cruisers. This is exactly what their ambassador has been brought on board to do.

Schofield has made no secret of the fact that he loves good food and good wine and I think this is one of the main reasons he took the job (no doubt along with a hefty fee and a shed-load of free cruises). He took is first cruise a little while ago and there will be little video snippets released of what he experienced during his time on board and on shore. To see the first 3 minute video click here and you’ll get to see his first impressions of the Royal Princess, taking a look at the bridge and the galley as well as his trips in Barcelona and wine tasting in Marseilles. Now, I know he’s getting paid to promote the brand, so I wouldn’t have expected anything else, but I get the feeling he genuinely enjoyed the experience and is looking forward to more cruises and lots more vino!

I think he’s a great choice to promote Princess cruises. Do you?
