For five sailings starting in late April, throughout May and until the end of June 2018, one of Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice class ships will offer cruises throughout northern Europe from Dublin. Further details on the destinations on offer will be announced later this year. The Solstice class ships are the newest vessels in the fleet and feature facilities including the lawn club with real grass where you can enjoy a picnic, have a game of croquet or just relax. They have also won awards for their food offerings including the innovative restaurant, Qsine where you use an iPad ordering system to choose your food in a fun and interactive way.

Not only is this good news for Irish passengers, it’s also great for international passengers to be able to spend some time in Dublin either before or after their cruise. Dublin is one of my favourite cities in the world. I’ve visited many times and never get tired of  wandering through the streets and soaking up the atmosphere of the pubs. The last time I went was in July and there was a heatwave. The temperatures were over 30 degrees. In Dublin? Who’d have thunk it? I had to go out & buy new clothes it was so hot! However my favourite time is in winter, getting all wrapped up to go sightseeing and sitting in front of the fires in the cosy pubs in the evenings. For a European capital city it’s certainly a friendly place and the people are so warm & hospitable.

So well done Celebrity! Now how about home-porting a ship in Liverpool for the latter part of the year, so Brits that live in the North (like me) don’t have to traipse all the way to Southampton. I invite a response…..:)
