Norwegian Fjords

I have never been to the Norwegian Fjords but we have just booked a little break on the Fred Olsen Balmoral for May. It is just a short 5 night sailing but as Charlie has a half day at school every Friday and then the Monday & Tuesday are inset days we thought we would get away.

This will be our first time visiting the Fjords and our first time with Fred Olsen. This will be completely different to our last cruise in December on Allure of the Seas and I dont think Charlie realises how small the ship will be in comparison. We are not really going for the ship on this occasion though. It is convenient as it departs from the Port of Tyne in Newcastle so its just a short train ride from Edinburgh. We have also been wanting to try the Fjords for a while now and we got a great offer on a Balcony Suite.

We havent planned any trips and will most probably just do our own thing as we dont like to be restricted to tours. We did consider taking our bikes however they are not suitable for the cruise. They do accept bikes on board but they need to be the fold up kind.

That will be our first holiday of the year in May and in the summer we are heading back to Dominican Republic for a relaxing 2 weeks doing nothing much!  Our holiday at Christmas was so busy we crammed so much in I am really looking forward to chilling out for 2 weeks.
