Day’s 5 & 6 Vancouver

For our two night stay we were lucky enough to stay at the wonderful Fairmont Waterfront.

It’s a beautiful hotel in a great location combining the best of Downtown city Vancouver with stunning waterfront and Mountain views. We checked in late so were in awe the following morning  when we opened the curtains.

There are three Fairmont’s in  downtown Vancouver and we had the opportunity to visit them all which was great as they are all very different.

The Waterfront is 23 years old and appealing for it’s views and the beautiful rooftop garden. They even have their own bee hives and you can try the honey in the restaurants.173

The 75 year old Fairmont Vancouver is the oldest and most traditional. We visited for afternoon tea which was lovely and great value for money at $39 per person.

My favourite of the three was the 4 year old Pan Pacific a superb modern hotel with great quirky features such as I pads in every room and TV’s in the bathroom mirrors.

As well as visiting these superb hotels we also took in some great attractions.

Fly over Canada is a unique way to see Canada as you fly from East to West with a stunning audio visual display. It was so real and so much fun it left our group squealing like children.

Next stop was a coastal Zodiac. I’ve always been a thrill seeker so I loved being bounced around the boat at high speed.

We were dropped off on Granville Island a great place to people watch, have lunch and shop in the unique boutiques. they even had a little shop that only sold Broom sticks,  I can’t imagine a shop like that doing very well in Britain but they obviously have enough demand.

By far my favourite attraction was the Capilano suspension bridge, steeped in history it’s a great day out for people of all ages.

Describing Vancouver in three words I would have to say cool, friendly and cosmopolitan and If you’re planning a cruise from Vancouver I would highly recommend at least a two night pre cruise stay. There’s so much to do I feel we only scratched the surface of this great city and can’t wait to return.
