P&O have announced last week P&O Aurora will become Adults only and families will no longer be allowed
The changes will take place next spring after a refit of the shipl which entered service in 2000.
The 1,874-passenger Aurora will return from its March 2019 refit as an adult-only ship.
It will join Arcadia and Oriana as ships exclusively for adults from April 8, 2019.
The ship had already been on sail and booked by lots of families with children. They are being offered the option of re-booking on one of P&O Cruises family-friendly ships – Azura, Oceana, Britannia and Ventura.
If they wanted to cancel will receive a full refund along with a future cruise credit of 5% of the value of their cruise.
The change follows the sale of P&O Cruises small child-free ship Adonia to rival Royal Caribbean Cruises.
Apparently the decision for Aurora to become adult-only follows “extensive research and guest feedback” by P&O Cruises. Im guessing they didnt research families!
Senior vice president Paul Ludlow said: “All our ships have the signature elements of dining, service and great destinations.
“However, P&O Cruises is all about choice, whether our guests want the fantastic range of activities and children’s clubs on our family-friendly ships or prefer the peace and serenity of our adult-only ships.
“With Aurora becoming a ship exclusively for adults, we are offering our guests even more choice which means they can choose the holiday experience that is absolutely the right one for them.”
Now i’m all for Adult only ships and having a family myself their is nothing worse than grumpy adults who don’t like children making underhand comments and facial gestures when kids are having fun and been kids. Don’t get me wrong i don’t let my child run wild and she is always in my sight but you still get those who believe they have the right to not have kids around even when they have booked on a family ship. So for me it works letting those adults go on their own ship but what i am surprised about is the timing for those with kids will know its quite hard to find the availability for 3/4 berth cabins already so will a family ship less this will become more challenging , surly it would have made sense to make the change at the same time their new ships come into service in 2020 which would have also meant not disappointing lots of families booked on the ship all ready.
Whats your thoughts, did your cruise get cancelled ? Do you agree with another adults only ship?
