I’ve been spoilt!

I have recently been on board Regent Seven Seas Voyager – 6* Luxury All Inclusive cruise liner which is the most luxurious ship I have ever been on board.

There are various words I could use to describe this experience but the one that stands out is – AWESOME!!

I have so much to say about the different aspects of the ship,  so it will feature in various blogs so look out for more.

Myself and my colleague Teresa flew from Birmingham airport to Amsterdam with Flybe. It wasn’t a bad flight as I don’t like flying but do it because I have to.  We landed 50 minutes later and headed out to find our transfer vehicle.

We had pre-booked a private transfer and the directions were very clear, we headed out of the airport and headed for The Sheraton Hotel main entrance. As we walked up the driver was waiting with a sign with my name on – very professional. It was then approx. a half hour transfer to the port (the driver did get told by police to slow down – but we didn’t think he was going too fast).  The driver unloaded our bags which were immediately taken from us after putting labels on with our cabin number (we were late booking so didn’t get labels through in time) which was very easy & smooth. We were on board by 2pm ready to sail at 5pm.

As we walked on board we were greeted by white gloved waiters with a glass of champagne, a lovely touch.  With Regent you do not check in at the terminal like other cruise lines, we headed straight to the theatre as advised by the staff. We completed the compulsory medical forms and proceeded to the desk, very quick, smooth and easy check-in. We were given our key cards in a beautiful leather wallet.

The cabins were not ready and we were advised there would be an announcement once they were, so we headed up to the pool deck to get a drink. Cabins were ready at 3pm so we headed up to deck 10 to our cabin.  Concierge class suite number 1036 – as on Regent we do not call them cabins they are suites! Clive did have to keep reminding us of this. The Americans & Canadians call them suites all the time.

The cabin was very spacious with lots of storage space and I loved the walk in wardrobe.  Plenty of hangers & bath robes in all suites. The bathroom was a good size with full walk-in shower & bathtub & again lots of storage space. The beds were extremely comfortable.  Adjustable air conditioning so you can be at a comfortable temperature throughout the cruise.

The muster drill was at 4.15pm so we went to the cabin to get our life vests and headed to our muster station on deck 5 – Horizon Lounge. Here we met the rest of the group and Clive who was hosting the trip from Regent.  We introduced ourselves and listened to the drill. After this we put our life vests away and met up on pool deck for the sail-away.

Regent is All Inclusive so all drinks are included – there were various cocktails & canapes being offered by the staff and a band playing music, it was a lovely atmosphere and I knew we were going to have a great time.

My overall first impression was amazing & the highlight that first day for me was the staff!  They were so attentive and always around to help you with anything. For instance, if you have been to the buffet or pool grill they take your plate from you and carry it to the table for you – never experienced this before but it was lovely.

So with great staff, beautiful cabins & a great group of people this was going to be an amazing experience.  The first night we had a reservation at Prime 7 which is the speciality steakhouse restaurant. Look out for my next blog on the food but make sure you’ve eaten before you read it – I’m hungry just thinking about it.

Here are a few more pictures of the ship:-
