Hooray for Harmony!!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to go on Harmony of the Seas, the brand new ship for Royal Caribbean.  Harmony is an Oasis class ship with so many new features compared to Oasis & Allure.

I have been on Oasis for a day to have a look round and loved it but this time I stayed on board for 2 nights so really got a feel for the ship.  Harmony is the largest cruise ship in the world.

227,700 tonnes  (2,000 tonnes bigger than Allure)
18 Decks
5479 guests
2747 cabins

I was blown away by this ship and absolutely loved it, she is a huge ship but still beautiful all the same.  I could quite happily go on this ship for a holiday. It didn’t feel crowded even though she was almost full and the areas around the ship are really spacious.

Some of the new features on Harmony:-

The Ultimate Abyss – 10 story slide
3 water slides
bionic bar

I think the slides will go down really well with families as suitable for everyone. Even the kids pool has slides for the little ones.

The cabins were of a good size and well laid out, plenty of storage space. I was in a Boardwalk balcony on deck 14 – this overlooked the Boardwalk and below was the carousel and the abyss slide, the only thing I will say it was quite noisy as the Boardwalk is a busy part of the ship even though we were high up – it was OK at night though but if have young children maybe not the best if they need to sleep during the day.

There are inside cabins with virtual balcony, outside cabins, boardwalk balcony & central park balcony and sea view balcony as well as suites so accommodation to suit everyone.  My favourite was the Owners Suite with balcony, this was a great size and can sleep up to 4 people and the balcony was huge as I demonstrated here:-

The family ocean view cabin was amazing, it can sleep 6 people, standard twin/king bed and a double sofa bed along with 2 bunk beds suitable for younger children, it was so spacious with a huge walk in wardrobe. Perfect for that larger than average family.

We did a tour of the ship in the afternoon so we could get a feel for where everything was as with only 2 nights we had a lot to see. We saw most of the ship and took some great photos. I loved the atmosphere on the Royal Promenade with the bars and shops, this was my favourite place of all especially at night when there was a band on.

Here also is the Rising Tide bar which lifts up over different decks, I loved this and went in a few times.

I also loved the bionic bar where robots make your cocktail for you. This feature is on the newest ships.

There are 2 flowriders so great for those surfers out there, mini gold course, arcade, kids clubs for all ages, basketball court for the sporty ones, the spa for those who wish to relax. There is also the Aqua Theatre were trained athletes do shows by diving into the water from a great height, this wasn’t open whilst we were on board but recommended if you go on this ship.

After a tour of the ship we stopped for a cheeky cocktail, had to be done……..

The evening entertainment was fantastic, we watched 80’s band The Wild Boys who I’ve seen before on Ovation and they were fab again.  The musical was Grease which was brilliant and well put together as well as the Ice Show which was also fantastic.  There was so much to do in the evening it was hard to choose as couldn’t do it all in 2 nights ( I need a longer trip to see more)..

I could talk about this ship all day but I will save the dining experience for next time… a few more snaps of the ship!
