Chaos on Carnival!!

Last week on one of the Carnival Cruise Line ships in Australia there was absolute chaos!!

The Barkho Family from Melbourne caused fights and upset whilst sailing on Carnival Legend on a 10 night South Pacific sailing it has been reported.

They had been looking for trouble for days according to passengers on board the 2124 passenger ship which sailed from Melbourne. around 30 people were injured in the brawl including women & children.

Reports show the security also got involved but the situation wasn’t handled very well by them.  There are numerous reports that the family tried to cause trouble from day one and earlier fights had been reported in the nightclub and lifts, here is a few extracts from fellow passengers:-

“They were looking for trouble from the minute they got on the ship,” she told Melbourne’s 3AW.

“My husband said to take it away, because there’s kids here, and five of them surrounded my husband. They told us to watch our backs.”

Another traveller identified only as Naomi said: “There are about 20 of the family, older people, teenagers and young kids with them. They were loud, alcohol affected and things like that.”

She added there had been a number of fights on board, including in a nightclub and in an elevator the next day, “and a big fight on the lido deck, which went on for about 45 minutes”.

It was members of the same family involved every time.

I have cruised for many years and on many different cruise lines and have never experienced anything like this on board a ship,  people are on holiday so why would they look for trouble… it baffles me.

One couple on board were having a romantic moment as he was going to propose to his girlfriend but this chaos put paid to that and ruined the moment for them. Not great memories for this poor couple.

The captain made the decision to make an emergency stop at Eden to off load the trouble makers.  New South Wales Police said six men and three teenage boys were removed from the ship and another 14 passengers from the same group voluntarily left with them.

It is believed there were 26 members of the same family on board who were the the culprits of this brawl & other incidents whilst on board.

I dislike violence and anything like this would ruin my cruise.
Have you ever had an incident like this on any ship you have been on, I would love to hear you stories?

Let’s hope carnival can recover from this as they will get some bad press from 1 family causing problems when they are a great cruise line to go with.

No charges have been brought to the family yet and passengers will be seeking compensation I’m sure.

When the family were removed, the rest of the passengers cheered as you can see for yourself:-

Until next time, happy cruising (without this sort of behavior i hope)……..
