Bring on the 60’s

As you are reading this I will be away from the office at our annual Christmas Conference.

We go away for 2 or 3 nights each December to celebrate the year we have had and learn what is new for next year.

As we work from home and spend a lot of time alone and only speak on the phone to our managers & colleagues it is great to meet up with everyone we don’t see often enough and to meet the new people that have joined the company and put faces to names.

Not everyone goes on conference obviously as some staff need to work or can’t be away for a few days so those who can go when possible. I try to go every year as love to get away for a few days.  I’ve only missed one conference when we unfortunately lost my father in law 3 years ago the day I was due to go.

We usually go on a mini cruise but not this year as nothing suitable for the whole group so we are heading off to Butlins in Skegness – a bit of a come down from a cruise but I’m sure we’ll still have great fun.  It’s all about the people for me anyway.

We are staying 3 nights so from Friday 8th to Monday 11th December and it is a 60’s themed adults only weekend so should be great fun.  We are staying in Gold Apartments which sleep upto 6 people so I’m sure we will have our own parties whilst getting ready to party in the evenings after working hard during the day at conference.  Cruise lines join us too to do training sessions and workshops so we are always learning.  It is always educational as well as fun.

We are having a fancy dress 60’s theme on Friday evening so watch out for the pictures on my return or on my Facebook page!

Butlins has been going for so many years now, Billy Butlin opened Skegness back in 1936 and it is still going strong to this day offering family holidays and adult themed weekends.

The Skegness site was recently refurbished and introduced the new Splash Waterworld  pool area with waterslides, a lazy river, spas & wave pool – not sure we’ll have time to try this but I’d love to as such a water baby!

The 60’s themed weekend has bands from the 60’s appearing live as well as tribute artists so should be a great weekend, I love a bit of 60’s music too.

There are as many as 17 bands playing over the weekend including:-

The Searchers (these were the 1st band to be invited to play on QE2)
The Fortunes
The Easybeats
The Troggs
The Dreamers
Gerry & the Pacemakers
The Merseybeats
Union Gap

To name a few…

Tribute acts are:-

Everley Brothers
Elvis
The Rat Pack (I’m looking forward to this)
The Who

Do you remember these bands?
Have you seen them at Butlins or elsewhere – I’d love to hear your thoughts….

I’m only a 70’s girls so not too far ahead of the 60’s so bring it on….
