Speaking Spanish and Studying at Alicante University!!

As you may well know, I live in Relleu, Alicante in Spain. But what you don’t know is why I decided to move here in October. I decided to make the move as I am currently a Student at The Open University and completing a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Studies and Spanish. So, I decided that moving to Spain would be my best chance to really master the language. At the end of the week there was a photo competition in which each class had to take a photo and submit it, I had the crea\tive idea for ours (the featured photo above) and we won!! It was very exciting!!

So for the past week, I have been away from my desk and been at another desk over in Sant Vicent Del Reisburg at Alicante University. It was a very intensive week. We had class from 9:15am to 8pm and all the classes were in Spanish. Each session was a different topic but mostly about the history of Spain. For the end of week presentation, we had to come up with a topic to ask the local residents about and then present the results in Spanish to the rest of the class. Our topic was about whether the local residents had or would like to work abroad and why. It was a very interesting topic and was really fun speaking to the locals.

On Sunday afternoon after registration, we went to see the Castillo de Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara Castle) which although I have been there before it is beautiful up there and the views are incredible. There is also so much history in Alicante so it’s definitely worth a trip. Lots of Cruises also port here and the port is in downtown Alicante so you can literally walk off the ship into the town.

On Wednesday night, myself and 2 of my new friends and fellow students wet to D’Tablas which is a great tapas place in downtown Alicante. I have been there a few times and the service is great, the food is amazing and it’s such good value for money.

At the beginning of the week, we have to do a short introduction in Spanish to our fellow classmates. Here is my introduction, see if you can pick up the gist of what I am saying;

Why don’t you check out our Mediterranean Cruises here and possibly visit Alicante on your next Cruise.
