I have been on a cruise to the Caribbean from December 19th to January 3rd. We went on the Marella Discovery 2 by TUI. We flew to Jamaica Montego Bay. The coach transfer from the airport was a bit long and very hot, so remember on this take a drink with you. On arrival we saw the ship which looked good from the outside. On boarding the ship, we found our cabin quite easy, it was on deck 7. The cabin was spacious and not sure why it was a deluxe balcony cabin as it was similar to a standard balcony cabin. The bed was lovely & very comfy though.

The ship was impressive with all the Christmas decorations up, there was a big tree in the atrium. The glass elevators are very nice. The main room was a bit over the top as the lighting was just too much. The dining experience was okay. The restaurant was not great, we found that instead of the food on board, we enjoyed the local food. The Islands are the best place to eat. The entertainment was not as good as we had hoped due to the same things being repeated over the 2 weeks. On board you get All inclusive as standard but you can’t use all inclusive until 10am so if you want a cappuccino from the coffee shop you had to pay for it. I found it hard to find my way around the ship as there were no hand held maps, you could however use the interface maps on the decks, but it would’ve been handy to have a handheld one.

We went to some amazing places; Costa Rica, Panama, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Mexico and Jamaica.

I found the TUI excursions a little expensive, but we still did a couple. The best ones we did were when we grabbed a taxi from the designated taxi area and they will take you on a tour for half the price which was a lot better and we really enjoyed it.

Cuba was very isolated at the port, we went on a tour and the country was beautiful, the local people were very welcoming. In Montego bay, we went to the Dunns River falls and it was awesome, exciting and very nice. Just a tip, be careful here though, the locals say have this for free and then say it will cost you 20 dollars, it was a bit of a nightmare. In Costa Rica, I found the area quite poor. Panama was lovely and I loved the Canal. We did the Eco Tour, the surroundings were gorgeous, however it was a long day and a bit repetitive because if you have seen one sloth you seen them all!!!!

Overall, we had a lovely holiday. In the future, I think I would try a week maybe not two. we did get to see some amazing sights though.
