Oriana revamped for her 21st Birthday!

P&O Oriana will be 21 this year and is now the oldest ship in the fleet having launched in 1995. She was  last  refurbished in 2011 she is set for another refit in December this year. This is going to a fairly major refit to bring her up to date with the other more modern ships in the fleet. Both of the main Dining Rooms will have all of the carpets and curtains replaced along with all the lighting and will have a more contemporary modern feel to it.

Cabins will also have all of the soft furnishings replaced with more modern designed materials and the furniture will also be replaced or repaired to a high standard. The bathrooms and toilets will also get a facelift by being repaired and upgraded.

It isn’t just the inside of the ship that is going to be revamped as they are going to be updating the balconies on the ship too. Oriana is a favorite amongst loyal P&O cruisers and I’m sure they will welcome the new look ship once she is out of dry dock.

Ships normally have some sort of refit every 5 years or so and another 2 of the P&O fleet are due for a facelift in the not too distant future. Arcadia was last refurbished in November 2013 when she had some extra cabins added and the nightclub was removed and replaced with some extra cabins for officers. She is scheduled to have another refit in October 2017.

Oceana will be the next ship after that to be refitted and this is scheduled for December 2017 and Ventura has a refurbishment scheduled for April 2018.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Britannia when she is due for a refit. The fact that there isn’t any stairs in the Centre of the ship has been a talking point since she entered service. Will they put this right? What do you think?
