How great was Independence of the Seas?

You must read this if you are thinking of booking to go on Independence of the Seas. The Million Dollar refit has meant the ship now has more to do than ever before. For families it makes Royal Caribbean’s already favourite ship in the UK, an even more attractive proposition.

I know fun when I see it and Splashaway bay looked like fun with a capital ‘Splash’ the children that were enjoying the water in the hot sunshine all had smiles on their faces. The lifeguards, although they have a serious side… were fun people too and this just adds to the holiday experience. It was at this moment watching that I wished my son Max aged 2 ¾ years was with me.

Laser Tag was a highlight for both me and my colleague Alexander. The teams were split into Robots against Aliens and the equipment was given out in an area with instructions and a video played to highlight the do’s and don’ts. This game is for all the family and size and age really don’t matter, you must, think like a warrior. I laughed so much as I kept getting blasted by a 6-year-old boy, he was everywhere.

The trampoline park had four trampolines and was a different experience. The virtual reality mask will take you literally to another world… I visited Candy land and squashed a gingerbread man as well as lots of smarties and lollipops. You must go and try it for yourself….

Grease was the best stage show I have seen at sea. I have been to a lot… The actors were top class and the production was put together so well. I would have gone to watch it twice if dinner was not so important.

I went on the backstage tour which was great to see a different ship with the galley, engine control room and bridge all highlights of the tour. My favourite was the executive chef who was both funny and entertaining.

I would go on a Royal Caribbean ship again in the future and hope to take the family. You do get what you pay for and with this much fun packed on the ship it truly is worth it. Call me if you are thinking Indy for your next cruise. 03333002480 Adrian
