P&O announce plans for a huge 5200 passenger ship!

Is it just me or are all the ships being launched getting bigger and bigger! It certainly seems that way as P&O announce plans for 2020 for a huge 180 000 ton ship to join their fleet. The new ship will carry over 5000 passengers….the largest ever built for P&O and the British market.

They are promising more choice than ever when it comes to dining, cabins, entertainment, itineraries and have said they have listened to passenger feedback and this is what they want. It seems after the success of Britannia, P&O are going to continue and this time launch an even bigger ship.

To keep up with the amazing new ships from the other cruise lines…such as Royal Caribbean, P&O are going to have to pull something special out for this ship to continue to impress their passengers. I do love the big ships, they offer so much to so many people.

P&O are yet to build a ship that features in the top ten largest ships in the world…so this new Superliner will do just that and they will be up there with the other cruise lines.

So what does a huge cruise ship offer that a small ship doesn’t. Well one of the biggest differences is the entertainment, there are always so many more choices and I always think on your cruise to be able to go to a different venue each day/ evening really makes your cruise. There will be more activities and things to do, lots of unique features usually follow with the larger ships, like the Food Heroes on board Britannia and all the classes they offer. There are more dining choices for you, again another big plus for the larger ships. You’ll meet so many more types of people on a huge ship, as they attract so many different people. Another plus is of course that if you not the best sailor on these superliners the motion you feel is going to be so much less than say a small 30 000 ton ship, in fact you sometimes forget you are out at sea they are that smooth.

I’m looking forward to finding out just what will be new and unique to this ship, words from P&O  include “striking”, “classic” “new experiences”….exciting times to come that’s for sure.

What do you think…is it time for some smaller/ mid size ships or are you a fan of the huge superliners? I would love as always to hear your thoughts.

thanks Abbi
