Q: I land in the US by air, travel around the US, board ship in LA, cruise the US, Mexico Guatemala, Panama and Colombia and arrive back in Miami 2 weeks later. Can anyone please tell me if I need to renew my visa via the ESTA website in order to re-enter the US from the ship in Miami? From JW in Yorkshire. 3 answers

Although we have updated the ESTA every time we have been to the US since last January , you don't officially need to. We re-entered the US at the port of Tampa this Feb with no updated ESTA and it was fine. We update ours because the US are renown for changing the goalposts without warning.

If you have already completed one it is valid for two years, but you can access it and put in your new travel details a week or so before you travel, but to do this you will need to know your Application number, but if you don't there might still be away around this but not sure what that might be....Bill
