Neil and Ida Down - Answered a Question by Allsop (24 Jul 08 00:02)

Sounds like an unusual cruise as normally it is the Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania that are visited and for these your passport is stamped on the ship and I always carry a photocopy of the back page of my passport and there is no charge by the ship for this. With Russia go only on organised tours either by local prebooked tourist agencies or on ships excursions when visas are arranged for you. I would hesitate to go into Georgia at all as I would consider this unwise unless the cruise line knows different. If you want to get a Russian visa yourself they are expensive. A of N is they guy who knows all about these. .. Neil.

A big thankyou to Neil and Ada Down. On Sep 26th 2008, Black Watch departs Dover for 28 days, visiting among others Odessa Ukraine; Yalta Russia and Batumi Georgia. I may rethink going on this cruise. Tony Allsop.

Not everybody knew each other which was also nice as we all...

After 17 years in the travel industry last weekend saw me step on board a Royal Caribbean ship for the very first time and wow, what a difference it has made to my outlook on cruising. Had you asked me a month ago if it was worth paying that bit extra for Royal Caribbean I would have said a few hundred pounds possibly, a thousand or more no way. Ask me now and I would say absolutely. For families I have no doubt that Independence of the Seas should be on the top of the list for your next cruis...
