If you have an early flight from Scotland to Gatwick airport you could consider the following route. Take the train from Gatwick to Redhill station, change there and pick up the train to Tonbridge, change at Tonbridge and catch the train to Dover Priory station. I think Fred Olsen operate a shuttle bus from the station to the ship, or it's a short taxi ride. It sounds a complicated route, but it does avoid going into London and back out again. Check out the times on www.thetrainline.co.uk - e.g. Gatwick station depart 10.10 - arrive Dover Priory 12.10, or the 11.08 from Gatwick arrives at Dover Priory 13.10. Happy travelling - Jan

Why not consider going to dover a couple of days earlier and booking into a hotel for a couple of nights. You will feel rested after the long journey and enjoy your cruise more. You maybe able to get there cheaper by train. This is just another suggestion and I am sure your Travel agent wll be able to help

From Gatwick, get the Gatwick Express train to London Victoria. At Victoria you can get a train to Dover. Be aware that the train divides at Faversham and part of the train only goes on to Dover. Make sure you are in the right part of the train - but there is plenty of information to help you. The trains are basically commuter trains and there is very little space for luggage but you should be OK as long as you are not leaving London between about 3.30pm and 7.00pm on a weekday as they will be VERY crowded.

Trey your travel agent or did you not think of this before you booked. A taxi will be approx £150 each way which might have been a consideration in your travel plans/budget
