Yes, there are gels/shampoos. You will have a great time - The ship used to be the Airtours "Sunbird" and when she was sold to Thomson's was renamed "Destiny". Sailed on her as both! Many, if not most, of the "Sunbird" crew have stayed with her and the atmosphere they creat, especially in the Dining Room, is fantastic. Only downside for us was hard beds! Mervyn .

Thank you for your answer, We have only done P & O and NCL in the past, I understand the cabins are quite small, we're not worried about that, i have prebooked ours,an outside midships on deck 3. I believe there is 1 formal night on a 7 night cruise, do most people get dressed up? [ I have taken onboard your comment about hard beds, maybe request a matress topper].

Hi sailed on the Destiny three times and also the Emerald twice. People do get dressed up especially when I was aboard this August I found alot more gents in Black Tie! Nine people in our party all ladies waring smart cocktail dresses. But my husband always likes to ware a casual suit with shirt and tie. My 19 year old daughter wore her prom dress and looked great! Its a cheeper way of cruising and your right about the rooms but you are not in them for long. We love Thomson cruising I hope you enjoy it too.

Is River Cruising Accessible?

By Hannah Wilson

Quite simply, River Cruising is my passion, my favourite type of cruise. i have been lucky enough to do five river cruises to date and the next one can’t come soon enough. Top of my river cruising bucket list has to be the Mekong, gliding through Vietnam and Cambodia – one day I hope! You would think that river cruising would be perfect for people with limited mobility, smaller ships with less passengers on, only three decks etc, but is river cruising really ideal for wheelchair an...

Mini Cruise ? Taster Cruise.

By Nicola Milligan

Nicola Milligan's blog

Cruise Companies do offer itineraries for less than 7 nights. Some call them mini cruise, some taster but whatever you call them do not think they are a waste of time. For the new to cruise market this can be an amazing experience to sample the whole experience. For the seasoned cruisers who may have less time to spare these too will fit the bill. Now any duration shorter than a week cannot offer much variety of ports, however with a bit of planning you can get the most from a short visit. The...

Women Only Cruising: Sexist or Smart?

By Freddie Moser

Freddie Moser's blog

So I read a really interesting article recently about a tour company that is poised to start running Women Only Cruising. At first I thought, what a great idea, why should women be subjected to our bloke-ish ways on their holidays, and if the shoe was on the other foot and if the article read Men Only Cruising, i’d be thinking yeah that sounds like great fun, no screeching women, crying, nagging, handbags everywhere etc ………Oh no wait, I wouldn’t say that, because ...
