That is a very long winded way of saying 'I'm opting out of the Auto Tip & paying whom & how much, I wish', which is what most Brits have been doing for years. Certainly on this planet anyway!

I don't know why everyone gets so caught up with the issue of automatic tipping haveing been on the beautiful sea princess a few days ago we found people who had opted out of these tips and tipped their room steward and waiters at the end of the cruise we kept our charges on i know it sounds alot for kids and i would agree that if i was taking kids on board i probably would stop their tips but remember this the service is astounding and i truely mean that nothing is too much trouble, also prices on board are very good the duty free shops are cheaper for beauty products than in duty free on land. if you are going to opt out of the tips just tell a member of staff at the pursers desk and they will remove it without any question, enjoy your cruise i didn't want to go home!but remember the staff that are making your cruise so enjoyable work really hard and don't see their families for about 10 months at a time many men don't see their new babies until their a few months old.

Dear Carberry Thanks for your comments. We will be tipping but to an amount we feel is REASONABLE.

Dear Browne I agree with you that this is hardly rocket science. That’s why I applied Elementary Maths to try to make a point. Regards.

Friendliest Countries in the World

By Zara Kelly

The inspiration for this blog comes from some clients who are travelling to Sri Lanka on holiday this year. I visited the pearl in the Indian Ocean a few years ago, and was blown away by how friendly the country is happy to chat to strangers about spices through to cricket, a passion there!I think speaking to locals give you a real insight into the destination. Other than Sri Lanka, the friendliest place I have been to is Japan, where people will literally stop you in the street if you look ...

Fred To Enter The River Market

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Fred Olsen have long been one of my favourite cruise lines, Braemar was the first ship I ever did a ” proper cruise”. When I say proper I mean not a mini cruise or ship visit as it was a 14 night Canary Islands sailing. In the last couple of years Braemar has been one of the lines ships that have started to do river cruising. Although in reality it is not really totally river cruising as the ships have been sailing from a UK port – Dover or Southampton.German Waterways sails ...
