If gratuities have not been included in your overall price it is possible to go to the Purser's Desk and advise them not to charge gratuities to your account as you wish to tip personally. You should have no problem as I have done this on cruises. Even though the cabin steward and dining staff are aware the gratuities are paid in advance, it can be embarrassing leaving the table on the last night without giving the tips personally, particularly if you have had good service throughout cruise.

How else can you pay the staff tips when you might get a different waiter every visit, pay each one individually? Stop trying to evade and go with the system..... Neil.

How Far Is Too Far?

By Alison Ranaldi

In March last year, I booked my holiday for November this year. At the time, booking 20 months in advance seemed quite strange and hard to get excited about. Also, it is nice to have something to look forward to. I have had a few holi...

What has been happening over the last couple of weeks in the Cruise Industry ?There has been a lot of talk about the new Cruise ship Bliss belonging to Norwegian cruise line. I am led to believe the track itself will be the longest at sea at nearly 1,000 feet, with four speed settings accommodating all drivers with the speed reaching up to 30 miles per hour including a special turbo boost available on each l...

Truth Behind Your Cruise Itinerary

By Emily Watts

Emily Watts's blog

Experienced cruisers will already know by looking at an itinerary how far the ports are from the main city and towns. However those that are new to cruising may be a bit miffed when booking a cruise that visits Paris or Rome they are in fact in some cases two hours away. With Paris being the capital of France you know the only water that surrounds it is the Seine. I think the most shocking one that appears is Berlin, people are thinking this will be lovely to visit but in reality it is just ...
