At the moment yes, RCI are the owners of Celebrity bought in 1995/96 or thereabouts but a bit more up market than RCI. It was the initial idea the ships would be sold off but there were so popular RCI changed its mind and kept them since then the Millennium class and now the Solstice class have come to the forefront of the queue with only really Century; Galaxy and Mercury left, but nothing wrong with them and if you look at Berlitz book on cruisng they are normally all are in the top ten in there class with the new Solstice likely to join them when this next book comes out in 2010.

I think that you have been looking at an old brochure so it's worth checking out. I have just looked on the web sites for Celebrity and RCI and the results from there show some differences. Celebrity...................................................................................................................................... $11.50 per person per day for guests in staterooms ($12.00 per person per day for guests in Concierge Class and AquaClass staterooms and $15.00 per person per day for guests in Suites). RCI ....................................................................................................................................... GBP 4.90 / EUR 7.50 (GBP 6.03 / EUR 9.24 for suite guests) per guest, per cruise day, Sorry but they are not quoting in similar currencies on there at the moment but your $35 seems a bit out........Neil .

It seems the stateroom charges are as you state but slightly higher for the waiter/assistant waiter but not that much different to worry about. RESTAURANT SERVICE* PER PERSON PER DAY Waiter $3.65 Assistant Waiter $2.10 Dining Room Management $1.00 STATEROOM SERVICE* PER PERSON PER DAY Stateroom Service $3.50 ($4.00 for Concierge Class and AquaClass staterooms) ... Bill.

I forgot we pre-booked our gratuities on Celebrity Century and paid £89 each for 13 nights in a suite with a butler at the time it seemed good value but the £ was worth about $1.70 and in a Concierge stateroom on Solstice we paid £78 per person for 14 nights. Must admit we prefer this option then it is out of the budget before you join the ship and you do your bit on the last night as per eveyone else. We didn't pay any fuel surcharge on the Solstice cruise but £54 each on the Century but hopefully we will see some credit on our seapass account when we check-in.

Hello, thanks for the info, I found the $3.50 information on the following site which I save in my favourites for ship information. http://www.-------------.com/cruise_ships.cfm I think the site is an American competitor, to visit the site you need to put in --------togo where I have removed from above and then click on one of the celebrity ships. Hope this makes sense.

It says on the Celebrity website - Please note that for all sailings beginning on or after January 15, 2009, for your convenience, we will automatically add gratuities for your restaurant and stateroom services to your onboard Seapass account on a daily basis in the following amounts, which may be adjusted at your discretion: $11.50 per person per day for guests in staterooms ($12.00 per person per day for guests in Concierge Class and AquaClass staterooms and $15.00 per person per day for guests in Suites).
