Yes. If you smoke you can only do so on your balcony, if you have one and even if you do you will get complaints from the non smokers if you have any either side. You can also smoke on designated areas on outside decks. But nowhere inside. Hope you do not have any rough weather when outside decks are prohibited. Because then you cannot have a smoke. No matter how much you paid for your cruise. Do what a lot of other smokers are doing and boycott P.O and go for the cruise lines that cater for ALL. We will. We are not criminals YET but are made to feel so.

I am a smoker booked to go on Arcadia in April 09. Will the ship be smoke free by then? If so I will cancel and try to book with another line. Do you know which lines still have some indoor area where smoking is allowed? Your help appreciated.

It depends on which ship. For Ventura, Oceana and Artemis see this. /cruise-news/article/1075/pando-cruises-change-their-smoking-policy/ On ships doing world cruises, Oriana, Aurora and Arcadia, the same ban does not come into force until next spring. On these smoking is still allowed inside in designated areas.

Found the answer on the P&O website. This is what it says.....For the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our passengers, and in view of the UK legislation in favour of a ban on smoking in public spaces from 1 July 2007, we have reviewed and amended our policy on smoking and have adopted the following policy on board our ships. Ventura, Oceana and Artemis From N817, E825 and P815 - Complete inside smoking ban in all cabins and public spaces. Smoking is still permitted on balconies and on certain areas of the open decks. Oriana, Aurora and Arcadia From the commencement of the Euromed season in 2009, there will be a complete inside smoking ban in all cabins and public spaces. Smoking is still permitted on balconies and on certain areas of the open decks.

Royal Princess

By Emily Watts

Last week I was lucky enough to experience Royal Princess which was also my first time on a Princess ship. It was everything I expected and more. as soon as we got on board I was impressed with the decor and the grandness, it really is a beautiful ship. Our cabin was located on Baja deck B215 which had a balcony and for two sharing it is very spacious. Princess prides themselves on the beds and it was probably one of the most comfortable ones I have ever slept on. After embarkation, we...

Are Thomson (sorry Marella Cruises, bad habit) the best kept secret in cruising? You probably read that question, as I did typing it, with a confused look on your face. Marella Cruises, the best kept secret in cruising, surely not! For most people when you say Thomson or Marella Cruises, and ask them what they think of them, their reaction is often one of displeasure and statements of oh I would never cruise with them or only if I have to. But why?I think for a lot of people, the image they...

We often hear about some of the negative aspects of cruising, particularly the effects of mass tourism and the environmental impact but much amazing work does go unnoticed. Were you aware of MSC Cruises’ partnership with UNICEF?MSC Cruises and UNICEF have worked in partnership since 2009 and together established in 2013 a global initiative to assist malnourished children in developing countries and those affected by crises. The initiative encourages MSC guests across the fleet to make a...
