Whilst smokers are restricted to a few areas, unfortunately Drinkers are not and I have found that it is the drinkers that are more problematic and there are unfortunately more and more excessive drinkers these days which can ruin your enjoyment of every area of the ship !! Funny though - no one usually mentions them P.S. I have seen people ejected from the ship for drunken behaviour - never for smoking in the wrong place.

The Oval is smoking and dont quote me on this but i seem to recall them having special nights when you could smoke in the casino, but not sure - its been a while now! Bayside is no smoking.

When we were on OV1 in October tehre was smoking in both halves of the casino (tables side and slot machines side) and some people sat in those areas to watch the shows while being able to smoke at the same time (which I didn't like). Yes, the smoke does drift across the first couple of rows so we avoided those. Although there is smoking in the Oval the smoke doesn't tend to drift into Connexions, possibly because the bars of both rooms separate them and also the walls of the Oval curve around and keep the smoke in to a certain degree.

Thanks you bothf ro your swift replies. Why on earth do OV allow this I dont know, surely if someone wants a puff they can go out on deck it makes places inaccesible for the vast majority of non-smokers. It is making me rethink about OV1 even though i like the itinerary I fear it might be OV2 againas at least smoking is only allowed in the contained casino!

Ida and Neil Down - Answered a Question by harland (20 Feb 08 19:40)

Hi Jane, I am often in trouble on this blog for saying how irresponsible smokers can ruin other people's holidays and probably will be again but they really don't realise how utterly horrible it is to be anywhere close to a smouldering cigarette. I am sure, though, that the time is not too distant when smoking will be thought of as unacceptable...Good luck.....Id.

Thanks Ida I totally agree with you, I am all for peoples freedom but when it comes to smoking unfortunately non smokers suffer, I do not have a problem with people smoking on one outside deck, and as most prom decks tend to be covered on ships (and most peeps take a cruise in clement weather) it should be fine. OV take note!
