Q: Hello, I'm thinking of booking one of the Dubai cruises over Easter time and I just wondered if anyone knew the expected sea conditions? This follows a very bad experience of sea sickness coming back into Southampton last August on the Ventura. 5 answers

I have just returned from the Dubai cruise on the Costa Luminosa and the seas were calm during what is supposed to be the winter there. I didn't feel any motion at all and the cabin was amazingly quiet. Hope you like the hot weather because it will be getting quite warm by Easter time. We found the weather just perfect in January, max 27 degs C during the day, lovely.

Hi, we cruised arund Dubai and Emirates in December on the Costa Luminosa and the seas were absolutely fine... I dont (as a rule) suffer from Sea Sickness except for at night when I'm laying in bed sometimes the motion bothers me - however, on this cruise I slept like a baby all night, every night and didn't have a problem at all. Mind you, the beds were SO comfortable on the Luminosa... I hope you have a fab cruise.

Unfortunately no one can assure you fo a completely smooth voyage. Ventura has a reputation of not riding rough seas very well, so you'll probably have a better experience on Costa. Take Stugeron before the ship starts to rock and roll and take some cristalised ginger with you to nibble. It has been proved to work and ancient Chinese sailors relied on it. Ginger tablets are available from health food shops, but I have not tried these.

Okay thanks for that, I'm sure to try it! Does anyone know though of the typical sea conditions on the dubai routes perhaps please? I was thinking anything similar to the Bay of Bisque for example?

You can get a bag of crystallised ginger in Holland and Barrett - the recommendation of Stugeron I totally agree with. You can get this at all chemists.
