North - Answered a Question by Mullen (12 Jan 09 21:00)

It needs some work around the rear pool and the Lido could be improved too - also aspects of the cabins are a little poor - mainly the basins - but unless you are really fussy then you will have a good time. As for embarkation and disembarkation it could be better with better planning but will not ruin your holiday - however if you are goingto the Caribbean La Romana airport hand luggage inspection staff may ruin your return journey if you put nice perfumes in hand luggage ( as they will confiscate them ) - be warned - and have a great time !

If you go to the reviews section and search for Thomson Destiny she has loads more four and five star ratings than one and two stars. Gripes seem to be laregly connected with small cabins (how much time do you spend in your cabin?) and disorganised embarkation (get over it, it's only 90 minutes out of your life). So long as it's clean and comfortable how much does it matter if the decor is a little dated?

Thanks for your comments, we have booked an outside cabin on deck 4/5, as you say you only sleep there, and there does appear to be more four and five star ratings.

It does need a refurb in places. Take the boat for what it is and don't compare with the new super liners and you won't be dissapointed. Its very clean and above all the staff are so friendly. We felt like we had been to a two week party!

We went on Destiny when she was Sunbird and have been on twice since, just returned from the Tropical Transatlantic and have already booked for the Tropical Sunrise in April 2010, we have been on larger ships but love it. Its great value and we take 2 teenagers.
