In Juneau it is worth visiting the Mendenhall Glacier and riding on the Mount Roberts tramway. It is a pleasant town to stroll around - a little like America in the past. Ketchican is also charming and worth a visit. If you take a small boat ride the scenery is great. It is just in Alaska and might be thought by some as a gateway to Canada.

These ports are great as a jump off point for excursions[had a fab half day kayaking around the inlets near Ketchikan 2 years ago] but to visit twice in one cruise? We've been on 3 HAL cruises to Alaska but haven't seen that option so difficult to comment. Is it a 'back to back'?

Why does any cruise stop at them twice? Personally I do not think there was more than one day's worth to see in each town, but there are a whole host of (expensive) excursions.
