Did you join a group for the tour, or were you just two.

All bar St Petersburg can be visited independently if you do not want to go on an organised tour - there are shuttle buses from the ship but as Aldrich suggests you need to do your own research to prioritse what you do. Oslo is charming and you can walk into town, see the palace and come back via the waterfront and tour Akershus Castle, which is right next to the ship. The changing of the guards at both Copenhagen and Stockholm is good, as is the Vasa museum at the latter. Tallinn is a little gem just to walk around from the shuttle bus and St Petersburg is just mind blowing but do book tours either through the shio or privately. Also decide how energetic you want to be as nine hour days touring do not suit everybody. Options include a panoramic tour of the main sights, a canal trip, a trip to the superb churches, to the Hermitage museum and to the royal palaces a few miles outside. You cannot do it justice in two days so choose what yoy want and what to leave out ... until next time.

Save a lot of money in St Petersburg by organising your own trip. We did last year and it was well worthwhile. we were recommended to Alla Tours. Contact Alla Ushakova at info@alla-tour.com She and all her staff speak perfect English. Ask for Angelika as a guide. She was lovely. They organise your visa etc. They have a choice of options tourwise. You can make up a party or as we did just two of us. Other passengers were amazed at how much we'd seen. You are met within feet through customs and really looked after. We were also given a 3 hour DVD of St Pete at the end of our trip.

Sailing like a Celebrity Part ...

By Molly McIntyre

As I was only on board for two nights we did not bother with any speciality dining on this occasion so we ate in the main dining room which was amazing. We had opted for Celebrity Select Dining which means we could choose when we wanted to go for dinner and could just turn up or you can pre-book a time on your planner. We pre-booked 6.45pm on both nights. On arrival at the dining room entrance we were escorted to a table towards the back of the restaurant and were immediately greeted by two l...

A Right Royal week of Celebrations

By Betsy Davies

Betsy Davies's blog

Well this week my Facebook has been full of Royal Caribbean’s ‘Independence of the Seas’ as she returned to Southampton after her 40 million dollar refurbishment. She looks amazing and the added extras , Laser Tag , a Waterpark , bungee trampolines as well as a couple of new dining venues I’m sure will help her keep the title of Britain’s favorite cruise ship !!!In the world of the Royal’s we have a big day this week in the UK as Prince Harry and Meghan get...

Brad Smith's blog

I like to do a little bit of research before posting my blog and it means I am up to date on all things cruise. Easy choice this week would be to blog about Independence of the Seas returning to Southampton after a big refurbishment. There is BIGGER news I feel though! Seabourn, the 6-star luxury cruise line will be docking in GREAT YARMOUTH!The first of TWO visits by the luxury cruise line will be happening when the Seabourn Quest will be docked in the Norfolk seaside town on the 30th June 2...
