As has been pointed out P & O have their own system and whilst I see that this was specifically about P & O those travelling with other cruise lines should not take this system as being universal. RCI, X and Azamara have a different system whereby the opposite is true. ...Neil

Whether booked in advance or on board, the cost is charged to your on board account so you dont have to pay in advance. Cabin on board credit is normally split in half to each indivdual so if you want to use each part, book your excursions to each name...Brian

I would say as its on-board credit you could book a trip as soon as you get on the ship but you may have to pay by card if you book it in advance but contact P&O only they have the answer?

If you book in advance on line no card details are taken. The cost is automatically added to your onboard account.
