Thank you Aldrich. I will take those ideas. Can you tell me what the Roll Call is and how do I access it.
No Explorer does not have wi-fi in the room. There are 6 wi-fi spots on the ship. The cost for Wi-Fi access through your own laptop is:
Base rate is $.50 per minute or choose from one of our prepaid packages:
$25.00 for 60 minutes;
$35.00 for 90 minutes;
$50.00 for 150 minutes;
I suggest you join the roll call for this cruise which is very activ.
We are on the same cruise and asked the same question we were told that the weather changes on the second day at sea you can sunbath. not sure about the internet it can become expensive. are you staying over before joinging the cruise .
We are flying from Manchester on Delta airways into JFK on 15th, and staying overnight at the Doubletree. I gather from reading these reviews that the hotel is quite a distance out of New York. I also understand that we have to vacate the shipo at 11am, but our flight is not leaving JFK until 8pm. Any tips on what we can do apart from sit round the airport? I take it you are also flying from Manchester (as you live in Runcorn) are you on Delta and staying over?
Aldrich, thanks for the info about wi-fi.
If you have booked the package with RCI then they will take you from the ship direct to the airport I'm afraid. Everyone will be off by 9.30 latest. They do not do any shore excursions that end at the airport so unless you arrange a private sightseeing tour of NYC I suggest you take a good book.
We are doing the same the hotel and same flight it is about 50 dollars taxi ride into the centre of new york we are goingto do some sights as we went to NY last april and on the way back we have a day room at the double tree hotel have you booked the whole package through royal caribean if so you should havethe same. there are 11 in are party so you should recognise us on the plane. have you crusie before?
We booked independantly unfortunately. I will email the Doubletree though and ask if we can do the same.
at least that way we have somewhere to put our bags and get a shower before the long flight home. Going into New York for the day is probably the best idea, at least we might get to see some of it as we have never been before.
Yes wee have cruised before. This will be our 6th cruise. We have not been on Royal Caribbean before or a ship of this size. The closest was the NCL out of LA. We have been on the Ocean Village, and Thomson Destiny 3 times although the first two times it was the Sunbird. It is great. Have you cruised before.
Me and my husband have cruised about 8 times we normally go with P&o but have been with thomson and last year with royal caribean and they were great. hope to see you onthe plane.
Forgive me for asking but if you have booked independently why on earth have you put your self in the Doubletree at JFK!!!? Terrible location. Can't you cancel that and at least get yourself a night in Manhattan. On the return why not do a bit of googling and see if you can find yourself a private tour that will show you the sights, take your luggage in the car with you and drop you off at JFK. I suggest you join the roll call for this cruise which is very active.
Going to the caribean at christmas on the thomson destiny ship..Would like to know if anyone did this last year and if they did how did they find it and also were the day excurions very expensive....
