Q: I am travelling on the Queen Victoria on 15 December (Christmas Markets) and would like to know if wifi is available on the ship? If so, how much does it cost and does it work all the time or just in port? Thank you in advance for any help. 6 answers

We were on Queen Victoria in September on a 12 night cruise. We bought a package - can't remember the details but something like 2 hours for 50 dollars - and used our laptop in the cabin. The main problem we had was that Queen Victoria had a problem with it's satellite signal caused by a specific problem with the ship which meant intermittent satellite reception for the whole cruise but hopefully this has been rectified now.

It needn't cost a small fortune for internet access....it depends what you want to use it for....on a 23 night cruise I sent and received emails each day on the Oriana on the pay as you go tariff on my own laptop and it cost me less than £40....but I typed them off line and just connected for the amount of time it took to send and receive.... then quickly disconnected and read the incoming at my leisure....

If you are taking a laptop and a mobile phone as per your other question I would consider re-mortgaging your house before you leave............Wilba
