BLYTH - Answered a Question by Simpson (10 Jan 09 16:54)

I have a friend whose daughter is a house sitter, she visits; waters the plants; stays overnight; does washing and hangs it out. Now do you have a friend who has a daughter you could trust to keep the house occupied for the period you are away.

We lived abroad for over a year many years ago and had the same problem with house insurance. Our house insurers were placated by the fact we kept the house heated, had an amazing burglar alarm and that our neighbours went in every day to check the house. They even drew the curtains in the evening and pulled them back in the morning during the winter. They were very special people and we were very lucky but as Mr Blyth says, you may find a good neighbour. It worked for our insurers and the premium was not affected.

WILSON - Answered a Question by Simpson (14 Mar 09 13:33)

Not an answer to your question but I wonder if you would kindly let me know the name of the company who you are insured with for your world cruise (cancellation cover etc.) as I am having great difficulty in obtaining a reasonable quote for the world cruise I am taking next January. Most mainline companies cover up to about £5000 and maybe 31 days which would not be sufficient to cover the cost and the number of days I shall be away from home. Many thanks.
