The sockets in the corridor outside your cabin actually are at 230 Volts - there is a hairdryer provided in every cabin but it is not be as powerful as a 2000Watt hairdryer in the UK. The sockets in the cabin are 110 Volts. As for the adaptor - as long as it has a two pin flat ( not round ) you are ok !! You can also have your mobile charged free of charge at reception !!

You would actually require a transformer to run a 240V hair dryer on 110V. It would still work if you just used a plug adaptor, but would not get very hot. NEVER try running an 110V hair dryer on 240V the consequences would be diar. However most hairdryers are dual voltage, so just switch it from 240 to 110, but DONT forget to switch it back when you get home. If you do not have a dual voltage one then they are not very expensive

Yes, my first thoughts were one of those petrol driven generators the roadside snack vans use. That would power up the hairdryer ok.........

I think they already have hairdryers on Destiny, mind you it does sound as though you could start a Boeing Jumbo Jet with yours. And yes as the others have suggested get a worldwide adaptor, you will be amazed how many times you will need it in the future. ..... Neil

Thomson Destiny only as 110v outlets but with the adaptor Wilba mentions all should be OK if you have a dual voltage unit and that should be marked on the unit somewhere...Bill

Go to B&Q, buy a 3 pin to 2 pin adaptor, costs about a £1 or if you really want to go mad, Argos do a worldwide adaptor which will fit just about any style of plug/size/shape for £9.99. Your phone charger will work on any voltage, just the adaptor is needed........Wilba
