We were on the tropical transatlantic and went through La Romana on 21.12.08, we didn't get asked to pay arrival/departure tax and we didn't pay anything. We had already been told via the cruise news that we wouldn't have to.

If this is correct, I cannot understand why the printed booking info I received for my Destiny 14 day cruise starting Feb 8th states specifically that I will have to pay arrival and departure taxes at airport - anyone been on this cruise in the last couple of weeks care to shed light on this please?

Have been to this airport and yes you do have to pay in US Dollars beware that the security guards also were asking for dollars from some people when they put bags through security it can be intimidating so make sure you have a few dollars to give them if you are picked on. There was no-one from the cruise or holiday reps at this point as it is through customs!

There is no tax to pay if you are cruising, but if you do a stay and cruise you will pay tax. When you are cruising you are classed as in transit.

Are You Loyal?

By Lesley Millward

Your points start from your first cruise so eventually (de...
