The dress code by day is casual and they will have a couple of formal nights but a dark suit for gents would do. I am afraid you are in the Canary Island area so no British TV plenty of American no doubt as it is cheap to access, so better get a friend to record it for you.
It's a while since I was onboard the Thompson Celebration but most cruise ships have some sort of satellite TV but usually only BBC World news or and or BBC Prime. Sometimes sky news but not usually the regular TV programming that you are used to at home. So set you favourite programs to record at home while you are away.
Although you need to be smart ( suit & tie ) to attend the formal nights, you do not HAVE to go - if you want to dodge it, simply dress as usual and have your meal in the buffet Lido restaurant. The only draw for some people was that you got a free drink at the pre dinner Capt's cocktail party! - at least this was true onthe Myths of Fjiords cruise in Sept.
No you won't get BBC1! Best thing on TV was the web cam of where the ship was heading.
Celebration vibrates quite a bit in places when they use the auxillary generators, but the atmosphere and comfort outweighs this. You'll have a great time and I bet you will be back for more. I think it woudl be difficult to find a more friendly and obliging crew anywhere.
Hope you enjoy your holiday, lucky you! We cant wait to be back on the Celebration next year. You will be some of the first to enjoy the ship after its refit, hope all goes well.
Thanks very much for taking the time to answer my question. Enjoy your holiday next year.
Just got back had a great time, you can only get news channel and ship plays up to date films We paid the extra £40 to choose cabin with view and bath I think it is well worth the extra. Have a great time ..
