The Oast - Answered a Question by Fletcher (27 Mar 08 09:46)

Not this year - but last. It is a small ship, very informal and very friendly. Entertainment was said by all to be excellent (although I did not personally sample it). Great entertainment director who sounded like David Dickinson on the PA. Food very good standard and staff were great. Downside is that the cabin we had (on deck 6) was on the small side. Some other cabins are larger eg lower down the ship.

DAVIES - Answered a Question by Fletcher (27 Mar 08 17:16)

My wife and I cruise on the Calypso last Sept 2007,i found a number of concerns with the ship. The only pool that is at the end of the ship is very small, and it is directly outside the buffet restaurant, wich means people sit alongside the pool eating. The ship is very old and it is noticeable, prior to evaning meal the entertainment is very poor, only one bar that usually has quiz, and one other bar that has pianist, never anybody listening. You had to be up early to get a sun bed as the area on top of the ship was sparse. On of the positives is you visit some port that other ships dont, we have cruised many times with various companies so found the Calypso itinaries good.Food very good staff very nice. But i,m sorry to say i will not cruise on this ship again as the facilities are poor.

Went on the Calypso October 2008 and had a brilliant time. We thought that such a small ship would not offer the usual top class entertainment offered by Thomsons, but it was superb. The crew were friendly, the food good and the value for money excellent. It is a small ship, which got a bit choppy the one day the sea was rough, but other than that we could not fault it and would certainly go on it again. I would go for a cabin on a low deck next time out of choice. We had made the mistake of up-grading. never a good idea to be on a high deck if it is rough!

Traditional or Freestyle ? Whi...

By Camilla Edwards

Carnival`s decision to introduce a new rule of traditional diners on their ships made me think of the whole subject of when, where and with whom do you choose to dine on your cruise. On board Carnival Glory and Carnival Conquest passengers who opt for first or second sitting traditional dining will be turned away from the restaurant if they are more than 30 minutes late for their selected seating. So that means be there on time , and probably queue to get on, or go to the buffet.Dining time s...

Zara Kelly's blog

Last week I enjoyed an extended weekend away to visit my family in Wales, mainly to celebrate my beautiful nieces 18th birthday. It was lovely as I had my own family with me for the weekend part, then I had some well needed pamper time with my sister (well a dip in her hot tub!) oh and yes it was my birthday also so went to see Coldplay in Cardiff.Cardiff did not disappoint, 41 years on from the hottest summer ever, it was bucketing rain all day! A bit like last year when I saw the Manics in...
