I have been on both the Spirit and the Celebration and I agree with the other people that have responded to your question. Spirit and Celebration are vitually identical aprt from one or two features but although not up to the grand standards of some of the modern day cruise ships, they have they have their own charm and the on board experience is one to be savoured. I think that is why passengers keep coming back for more holidays on board these two ship. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the Emerald as I didn't get the chance to travel on her but having read some of the reviews, she seemed a perfectly good ship to sail on.

Just got back fron the two weeks on the Spirit and after having numerous cruises previously on the Emerald but alas only one on the Celebration I can see that they are all very much on a par. Obviously the Spirit is more modern than the Emerald but a lot of the staff have transferred over and the atmosphere is still as friendly and the entertainment of great standard.

Having cruised on all three (twice on Celebration) there is nothing to choose between them (although of course Emerald is no longer with Thomson). All excellent!!

Thomson Celebration (1984) and Spirit (1983) are both virtually identical: ex Holland America ships. Thomson have not spent a fortune on multi-million pound refits, so both ships and have lots of original features such as cabin fixtures: some may say dated, other may say charming. Both ships are intimate by modern standards. However the Thomson on board experience (food, service and entertainment) is a very good one for the fare.
