Unless your getting the upgrade free or at a reduced price, I would say its not worth it. Its usually £150 per person per week. Only Stella Artois Lager and Boddingtons bitter are part of the scheme all other lagers, beers and ciders are added to your onboard account. Cocktails are included as are basic spirits, things like jack daniels or speciality spirits are extra as are sparkling wines and speciality coffees.
I have just returned from 2 weeks on the Celebration (prices and schemes are same as the Destiny) and the two of us spent a total of £450 in the bars and lounges, and I would class us as big drinkers.
Most house drinks. if u want frozen cocktails or other drinks there is a small supplement.
There are very few restrictions other than the most expensive spirits and also speciailist coffees. You will also have to pay for bottles of water.
Easy. If you both (or all memebers of your party) drink on a regular basis, go for it. If you are moderate drinkers don't bother. As with all Thomson cruises, the bar list has exceptions, e.g. Jamesons whiskey costs a supplement, Jumping Jack Flash is included. Destiny is our favourite of the three Thomson ships we've been on.
Hi, we went on the Destiny is July and up-graded to all inclusive, which in affect is the drinks package, as your food is already included.
The drinks package cost £149 each per week, unless you are big big drinkers I doubt you would get your monies worth. On an average you would have to spend £40+ per day on drinks. The drink prices on board are reasonable, so unless you are staying on board all day long and drinking all day long, you would have to work out if it was worth it to pay for this. You have to pay for water as an extra, also some speciality coffees, champagne etc. The cocktails are from £1.75 to £2.95 each,Bacardi £2.95, Martini £2.95, Whisky £2.55, some brands you pay an extra £0.95, Gin £2.55, Vodka £2.55, Wine £2.20, Lager £1.30/£2.45 half/pint
As you can see there is plenty of choice, all the brands are well known names, not cheap ones. Bear in mind you would get free drinks with your meal if you pay for the upgrade, about 2-3 glasses of wine, if you ask for a bottle you are charged extra for that, cost is £9.75, or £11.00 for sparkling. You do not pay for the drinks, they are added to your account and you pay at the end of your trip. You just give your room number and sign for it, save your receipts, but everything was OK with our bill at the end of the week.
Now all you have to do is decide whether it's worth the extra, have a great holiday.
Unless your tastes are exotic you will find your drinks are free, including teas, coffees, etc served around the ship.there is a surcharge for some premium drinks and these are indicated on the drinks list.there are no free drinks after 2am.
All inclusive package excellent, nearly all drinks on the package, wine by the glass not the bottle, but plenty of choice. No need to choose anything with a supplement as plenty of choice. Cocktail blue lagoon fab. All in real glasses like everyone else.
I have travelled on Thompson ships with the all inclusive upgrade and found that I could have more or less what I wanted. The upgrade also included speciality coffees which other ships do not offer in their all inclusive packages. It is well worth paying the extra.
Definately worth doing if you enjoy a drink. Talk to your tour operator who you booked through. You will find Destiny a friendly ship and hopefully enjoy her as much as we have. Palmer.Southampto.
Worth doing if you like a few drinks. But during your meal you can only have a glass of wine not a bottle, but that's ok you just order another glass. Also speciality coffee's are part of the all inclusive package. We were certainly in pocket by doing this package. Happy sailing.
