Hi Ive just been on Silver Wind Lisbon to Monte Carlo and it was great, with 2 formal and 5 informal nights. I would agree with the above - if you've got long evening dresses, wear them, you certainly wont be alone! But yes, a stole or wrap is useful over it. I would say there was a good mix of ladies wearing long and cocktail dresses. I tended to keep those for the informal nights. There were 3 nights where we were invited to cocktail parties with the captain, for welcome and farewell occassions and most people - and most definitely the female staff - wear their gladrags. Enjoy yourself!

We returned from silver shadow last month, and we were pleased to discover that the dress code is adhered to. so if you have long sparkly dresses and formal wear do wear it and enjoy. I think dressing up adds to the glamour of cruising. We had a fabulous time, and i'm sure you will too. Best wishes Jane

You can never be overdressed on Silversea, Seabourn or even Cunard. Go on and push the boat out and enjoy being glam . How often do you/we ever get the chance, Pack the lot and enjoy your self. Paul.

Silversea is one of the more "dressy" cruise lines. We have only been on the Shadow, but all the women wore either long dresses or cocktail dresses on the Formal nights and smart dresses on the Informal nights. My wife always wears long dresses on formal nights and coktail on other nights, but she has so many!!!! There was a mix of long and short. This was about 4 years ago and there were only casual nights on the first and last days. The men wore Tux's on formal nights and at least a jacket and tie on other nights. Silversea ships are very glamorous and you will enjoy the excellent staff. We even got FREE cigarettes then!!!

Thank you so much for the advice. We too love dressing up so I can pack away to my hearts content.

If it was me I would take both. Long Dress maybe for the Formal nights and Cocktail dresses for others and a Pashmina or silk Jacket in case it is cool in the restaurant. Have a great time.
