They normally work of a low voltage a bit like laptops so can't see any reason why they should be a problem.

I took my DVD player last year and left in full view in cabin. Also had charger for phone & MP3 player and all used without comment from any staff.

I think it is best from a fire safety viewpoint, not to leave anything plugged in and charging while you are out of the cabin. Charge things overnight.

I didn't suggest they should all be lined up overloading the circuit!! I'm sure cruise companies know that we take our own entertainment with us with so much portable technology around these days and it's a great way to relax. As a responsible adult, the point I was making was that I left all my gadgets out on view with chargers visible as well and I'm sure the attendant would have mentioned something if he had been concerned.

Sorry, didn't mean to suggest you yourself did anything wrong. I was just making a general point.

Just to add... I took my portable DVD on Brilliance, last week, no problem, BUT there are NO plugs or scart sockets on TVs in cabin, so it can not be plugged into the Cabin TV.

Hi, portable DVD players are not a problem. My 5yr old son has taken his on our last 3 cruises, Princess Cruises, Princess Cruises, and Royal Caribbean (Freedom of the Seas). We find he can sit back and watch his favorite films while get ourselves ready for our evening meal. But as someone else has pointed out, the DVD could not be plugged into the TV on Royal Caribbean but could on Princess. Hope you enjoy your cruise.

DVD players use very litle electricity so should be no prob. Just plug into one of the power sockets in your cabin. Ditto camera/ laptop/ phone. But before you go check the voltage of sockets and the type, 2 pin or 3. I always carry a range of socket adapters.
