Neil & Ida Down - Answered a Question by mcguire (28 Jan 09 14:36)

Well Jim, my suggestion would be that you do a cruise only and book your own flights and transfers separately so that will allow you to go to Santa Ponsa and join the Brilliance in Barcelona by using the ferry or staying somewhere on the Costa Brava a using Barcelona to fly to. I prefer a balcony but you choose what you like as it is very much a matter of choice, good Luck. ........Neil.

We did Med taking in Venice last year. Cabin really doesn't make a difference unless you want to know what the weathers like outside then you need a window or balcany. It depends on what you want to spend. We have had inside, window and balcany cabins. Unless you are going to spend all your time inside you only use it to wash, dress and sleep. We went on Independance and Navigator of the sea. Both very nice ships, good food and entertainment. Navigator much larger but still friendly. We usually dont stay but instead take 2 week cruise. They do great cruises out of Southampton and Dover and I think they are now doing some from Hull and other northern ports. Good Luck have a great time.

I do like RCI have been on Splendour of Seas 3 times and enjoyed every holiday but I do now think the ship is in need of a refit. I would go with Neil’s recommendation Brilliance of the Seas it’s supposed to be the best ship in the group and yes I am on it in 7 weeks.

Independence Of The Seas T...

By Caroline Kyle

Last week I sailed on the newly rejuvenated Independence of the Seas. As I’ve mentioned before she’s always been one of my favourite ships, but it’s been a few years since I was last onboard so I was keen to see the changesI was onboard for 2 mini cruises back to back so I’ll be splitting my review over a couple of blogsDay 1Arrived at the port at 12:00 and as a platinum member, I had priority check-in, so thankfully I skipped the huge queue and was onboard within 30 m...

Are Marella Cruises the best k...

By George Davison

George Davison's blog

Are Thomson (sorry Marella Cruises, bad habit) the best kept secret in cruising? You probably read that question, as I did typing it, with a confused look on your face. Marella Cruises, the best kept secret in cruising, surely not! For most people when you say Thomson or Marella Cruises, and ask them what they think of them, their reaction is often one of displeasure and statements of oh I would never cruise with them or only if I have to. But why?I think for a lot of people, the image they...

FUNICULAR FUN IN BERGEN!

By Hannah Wilson

Hannah Wilson's blog

So on our recent Fjords cruise on Balmoral myself and Holly decided that having splashed out, quite literally, on the Rib Adventure in Eidfjord that we would just do our own thing in Bergen, get off the ship and wander around, however, just outside the cruise terminal we happened upon a Hop On Hop Off Bus Stop and decided that we would have a tour round Bergen on that, covering more ground. The tour takes around an hour and you get a good taste of the city, Norway’s second largest, all ...
