October can be variable and certainly your first day at sea out of Southampton will be cold on the upper deck but once you get into your second day it will be much warmer. Once you get down to Madiera and the Canaries you can expect temperatures of 25 deg. C or better and mostly sunshine. Sea conditions will be dependant on the wind strength at the time but on a ship of this size should not pose a problem. Madiera can be cloudy on still days but if a breeze is blowing it is generally fine. Your last day at sea before returning to Southampton will be noticeably colder while you cross the Bay of Biscay.
Thank you so much, that is very helpful!
I think it is really difficult to tell, we went last year at the same time, Cold as we left S'hampton, cold across the bay, chucking down with rain in madeira, dry in the canaries but with a very strong wind the whole time so never warm. Had v v rough seas all the time after day 4 and even a hurricane and 35-40 waves for 24 hours on the way back from Lisbon. The ship was so violently moving people were crying, really scared as it lifted in the air and crashed back in to the sea.
Plates and glasses were going everywhere in the dining room and all entertainment was cancelled. Im sure we were unlcky but in all the cruises we have been on we have never experienced weather like that..
We did have the wind and therefore heavy seas all of the time but I guess it cant always be like that or the ships wouldnt go there.
Hope it lovely for your big day, but if you do get weather like us you will always have a story to tell..
