Amsterdam is a super hub airport - far better than uk airports, and all on one level with escalators that work, plenty of signage and nice people. I use it for business and leisure. Try to get to the ship for noon, latest boarding will be about 3 pm. Forget Birmingham - Queues, delays and more queue.

You can fly direct from Cradiff on BMIbaby but it is an evening flight so you would need to stay overnight in Barcelona. Similarly flights from Birmingham are in the evening Bria.

Vincent - Answered a Question by thomas (10 Aug 07 22:25)

We flew from Stanstead with Ryanair to Barcelona (Girona) which is about an hour coach ride to Barcelona City Centre then a short taxi ride to the port. Went out at in good time and arranged a return in line with travel agents guidelines when we could have flown back earlier. Sailed on the Voyager of the Seas had a fantastic time 1st class on board Ronnie Vincent, Ken.

We flew straight from gatwick for our flight, but other people we met flew into amsterdam and had about an hours wait for the next connection and found it fine. You should have the latest boarding time on your cruise ticket/itinerary, we have been on two cruises, one we had to board by 4pm for a 5pm departure and the other by 7pm for a 8pm departure. I think rule of thumb is one hour before the ship sails.

To be sure of boarding, it really would be better to spend a night in Barcelona prior to departure. As for the return, our ship was five hours late into Barcelona, and it was lucky we had booked late flights out or we would have missed them. Insurance may cover this . .not sure. Don't risk missing your ship!

The Independence of the seas has had it’s make over and has been refurbished whilst in dry docks throughout April. As you read this I would have spent my first night on board.I have been on the Independence of the seas before but this was way back in 2008 and it was a travel agent pre-inaugural sailings for two nights. I can still remember it so I’m really looking forward to being on this ship again. I like the Voyager and Freedom class of ships from Royal Caribbean. They just fe...

I am currently on the Independence sailing today 15th May for a 2 nights cruise. The Independence of the Seas was build and launched in 2008Royal Caribbean gives a refit to all their ship at around the 10th year anniversary. The sister ship Navigator of the Seas has had her make over last year and looks beautiful proving to have become the new favourite until now. The Independence has had her multi-million pound makeover this year and will be setting sail looking glamorous for the first time ...
